Illinois has made significant investments in career and technical education (CTE) and postsecondary pathways, yet two parallel frameworks, the Illinois Model Programs of Study Guides and the ISBE CTE Model Programs of Study, currently operate without full alignment. This session explores the importance of integrating these frameworks to create a coherent, student-centered system that supports seamless transitions from high school to postsecondary education and into the workforce. Participants will learn how a unified model can provide clearer guidance for students, educators, and administrators; strengthen alignment with labor market data and Illinois’ high-demand industries; and better connect high school CTE, dual credit opportunities, community colleges, and four-year institutions. The session will also address how alignment can help close equity gaps and expand access to high-quality career pathways statewide. Importantly, participants will have the opportunity to review the updated guides and provide feedback to inform their continued refinement and implementation across Illinois.
